Ahh... The joy of rest... was quite tired...

To any School of Business and Accountancy from Ngee Ann Polytechnic people i know: U want fun? u want excitement? u want thrill? u want more than DNA camp? u want a nice tan? well, TOO BAD, u all missed it!!! See lah, tell u come for iDARE camp, dun want, always nv listen to my advice, it was about twice the fun of DNA camp i participated last year end of october, u can find my post on that DNA camp if u look back in the previous entries, i think under the 4th November 2004. But now, iDARE camp, Whoohoo, fun man... exciting, thrilling, breathtaking, no other words can describe that feeling of the camp. this will once again be a long post, cause have lots to talk about, so grab urself a nice drink, some cookies, sit back, relax and read on...

Just came back last night from iDARE camp... it was held from 18 to 21 April 2005, monday to thursday. The theme is Impossible to I m Possible. And it was held in Bintan island. just 3 days b4 the camp, there was some commotion about safethy issues, as some of u might have read the newspaper, there was some volcanoes that "might" be erupting soon, the volcanoes were not on Bintan itself, but near there, so naturally there will be some worries... i myself was worried, but i did pray to calm my heart down... and asked for safety, and safety He did give me... Thanks Be To God...

Monday:
We met at tanah merah mrt at 7am, saw marilyn and zack there first, marilyn is my group SF, meaning "Student Facilitator" ie, group leader... zack same group as me... i think my group is the most early one... only one or two came a little later, but so wad? my team is still the earliest... Btw, my group name is "Mighty Seven", because there are 7 of us in the group, including the SF... my other group members are perry, wendy, siti and melissa... perry and wendy also went to the DNA camp last semester... After all reached, we proceeded to the bustop to take a bustop to the ferry terminal, yay!!! so fun taking a ferry, never take one b4 in Singapore, haha, i'm lame... it was fun riding the ferry, took about less than 1 hour to reach there, played some games on board, cards, heart attack using uno cards, played a game of uno, took some photos, sang our group song "If We Hold On Together", if u look at my previous post, there is the lyrics...nice song, quite meaninful... Anyway, when we reached there, went to the training centre immediately and met our instructors, played some games to get to know each other better... had lunch and thereafter proceeded to do the Low elements, the first activity of the camp, fun, possible to do, one thing like about the instructors, especially Shawn, whenever we did or said something wrongly, or accidently, or if we were stuck at something, he would question us to make us think... he would ask things like, "Is what you said constructive? Would it help to make the situation better?" and all those sorta stuff... and immediately on the first day when i saw this attitude, i looked up to them, i was like, Good leadership!!! i wish i was like tt...but ppl will hate me lor...haha... anyway, fist low element i did was the spiderweb, i think it was quite a common game, most of u would noe it, supposed to cross to the other side without touching the ropes... it started raining also, but luckily, it only rained for that station, stopped quite fast, Thank God... my group's next station was the Trolley, supposed to collect some coloured balls in a group of 5 using a wooded plank with ropes that we hold to pull the planks we step on up, we cannot step on the ground... interesting game also... next was the whale watch, it is a big see saw, where the whole group is supposed to go onto it and try to balance it for the longest team... i think my team did the best, with a timing of more than 30 mins... can u imagine it? we sat up there for more than 30 mins... we forgo our tea time...haha... oh, the instrutor incharge of that station was Larry, the funny guy, always attracted to the girls one... and he has a cheeky look...haha... he has a word that i got addicted to at the last night of the camp, will talk about it later... After this station, everyone went for a rest first, b4 continuing another 3 stations... the next station i did after the break was the giant finger, the group of us are supposed to go across the skipping rope without touching it, first few tries, cannot... in the end, we managed to complete it with enough coordination and timing... next station was the mohawk walk, its just the rope we got to balance and walk along it, on top of the rope, tts all... and the last low element was the Nitro crossing, another name is the low wall... everyone supposed to go over the wall... yup, tts all for the low elements, i think the main lesson that the Focus Adventure group want us to learn upon doing all the low elements is that, there should only be one leader at a time, if there is more than one, there will be a communication breakdown... we had dinner after that...packet food... after that we did not have any other activities i think, just a debrief, den went to our resting place... it was not a hotel, but a chalet, quite good i think, it was all air conditioned... with a living room, a kitchen, and 2 rooms for 2 ppl each, but each house 6 ppl... house number was this year, "2005", i was with jianming(my ex DNA room mate), ah boy, ian, julian and perry...these ppl quite fun... especially the ahboy... fun to chat... i think i slept quite early...

Tuesday:
Today is the day we did alot... early in the morning we got a list of things to bring. wah lao... last minute...haha, but nvm la... forgive them, i think the SFs were quite tired anyway... went for rafting in the morning, wahz... got a sunburn on the beach man... but nvm, good also... i want a good tan... the rafting was quite difficult, my group, did not complete it in the end, but nehmai, at least we tried...after that we went back to the Focus centre to bathe, had lunch, den we played paintball, fist time i play it, was quite fun, haha, alot of the paintballs bounced away from me... so lucky, first game, i took the flag, so we won...yay... second game we lost... oh well, nehmai... We went for dinner after that, den went for the night trek, not as difficult as i expected it to be... quite fun... night trek was about 3 hours i think... den went back to the centre and thereafter collecting our bags, went back to the house to rest...

Wednesday:
Did the high elements today, each group can only do 2 out of the 6 stations... due to time constraints, sad... but nehmai... my group's first station was to climb up a pole and jump to catch another pole, u noe those circus one?i did not catch it, but nehmai lah... after that lunch, den did the main event of the camp... The Team Challenge Pyramid, it was tough, i gotta admit, needs alot of endurance and perserverance... the whole team must climb up together going through alot of obstacles, den end of at the top of the pyramid, doing a flying fox down to pyramid, flying through the air, having a sense of accomplishment... i think my group took about 2 hours to reach the top... haha... quite long... nehmai... i think every group also quite long... after tt went for dinner, den had the camp fire... where we did our performances for each group... find out our angels and mortals, did the sundance, and the friendship dance... somehow, the 2 dances were not as exciting as the one in DNA, and the reason is not cause i did it b4 tts y...i think because of the limited space there...went back to the house after tt, den some of us went to the pasar oleh oleh to buy stuff, bought 2 cup noodles, 50 cents each, and other stuffs... cheap... u noticed i used this word "nehmai" alot in this post? this words originated from the instructor Larry, the funny guy... den i started copying him... i kept saying nehmai to everyone whenever i wanted to say "nevermind la"... until siti got irritated by tt word, only she is irritated, haha, everyone else started following me...haha... it spreaded, and spreaded, until the whole camp was using it... haha...then tt night, wed night, which was 2 days ago, which was the last night, haha, we were so bo liao till we even form a group called "nehmai" den had a nehmai cheer... and it spreaded too...haha...

Thursday:
The last day of camp...woke up, bathed, den got a sms... guess wad it was, my results... the results was too good to be true... better than i expected, i was like, sure anot... i just had to check my email to confirm... after tt, some of us went to the go-kart, i opt to go... cause nv went b4, wanted this opportunity... it was fun man... did not cllide with anyone... i only got stuck at one part cause i did a too sharp turning at a too fast speed... skidded... after tt those who din go-kart joined us, and we went to the beach again... those who din go-kart went to banana boat there... den went for the lunch at the resort, good was good man... buffet... the whole camp this was the nicest meal... the rest of the meals were packet food, with only 2 meals of buffet... after tt we were given some time to rest, den gathered to noe the different best groups, my group had the "best performance" award... yay... performance was during the campfire, my group did something different, we did a modeling show(i was tarzan, haha), and a song, "If We Hold On Together"... the rest of the groups did skits... anyway, melissa got the best trainee... we headed for the bus to bring us to the ferry terminal after tt... bought some things there again... den on the ferry, took a whole lot of photos... and i mean, alot... i think one shot took 40+, cause i took alot of 2 ppl photos... some groups photos... i did not use the camera for the rest of the camp, so will need to ask ppl for the photos... wah, inside the ferry got TV mobile seh, but no sound...haha... so nv watched... it was showing channel news asia i think... travel time was about 1 hour again... when reached Singapore, my father picked me up...

Yup, tts all for the iDARE camp... took 2 hours just to write till here... anyway, it was really fun... u guys who nv joined a BA camp b4, i encourage u to join the next one ya? highly recommended for taking away stress, and adding fun or spice into ur life... one's life is never spicy enough... made lotsa friends, happy...

Anyway, quite happy with my results actually, especially the unexpected one, the one which i was worrying alot for, Business Management, i thought i would fail it... i got a A for it in the end, Thanks be to God...my worst sub was macroecons lor... got a C+ for tt... same as last semester microecons... But truly, i gotta give back ALL my thanks back to God, i kept praying to Him day and night for good results... in the end, i got what i wanted... happy... okok, i better go now... spent quite alot of time writing this already... will upload photos here once i get them into my lappy... haha, ciaoz...
